Overview of Traffic Results#

Vinci SA, a major player in infrastructure, has released its traffic figures for February 2023, revealing a mixed performance. While airport operations showed positive growth, motorway traffic experienced a decline.

Airport Traffic Growth#

In February, airport traffic increased by 1.6% compared to the same month last year. This growth is an improvement from January's 1.0% increase. Notably, the rise in airport traffic was particularly strong in countries like Japan, Hungary, and Chile, indicating a rebound in air travel.

Motorway Traffic Decline#

Conversely, motorway traffic saw a decline of 0.8% year-over-year in February, although this was an improvement from the 1.9% drop noted in January. The decline in light vehicle traffic was more pronounced, falling by 1.2%, while heavy vehicle traffic saw a slight increase of 1.1%.

Vinci attributed the weakness in motorway traffic to several factors. One significant reason was the timing of school holidays, which affected travel patterns compared to previous years. Additionally, unfavorable weather conditions during February may have contributed to the decline in motorway usage.
