U.S. Stock Futures Gain#
U.S. stock futures showed positive movement on Tuesday, recovering from earlier losses despite rising oil prices creating a cautious atmosphere. By 08:45 ET, the Dow futures were up by 144 points (0.3%), S&P 500 futures increased by 14 points (0.2%), and Nasdaq 100 futures rose by 31 points (0.1%).
Oil Prices on the Rise#
Brent oil futures climbed 2.3% to $102.45 a barrel, while West Texas Intermediate crude futures increased by 2.7% to $94.93 a barrel. Oil prices have surged over 40% since late February due to ongoing U.S.-Israeli military actions in Iran. This spike in oil prices is raising concerns about inflation, as energy costs impact various sectors.
Global Tensions Affecting Markets#
Recent incidents, including a projectile hitting a tanker near the United Arab Emirates and a drone causing a fire at an oil hub, have heightened fears about global oil supply disruptions. The Strait of Hormuz, a crucial passage for oil transport, remains a focal point of international discussions, with some U.S. allies hesitant to assist in securing it.
Central Banks on Alert#
As inflation concerns grow, major central banks, including the Federal Reserve and the European Central Bank, are preparing for meetings this week. Analysts warn that rising inflation driven by conflict could lead to changes in monetary policy outlooks, impacting interest rates and market volatility. Traders should be prepared for fluctuations across various asset classes as these decisions unfold.
