Leavitt's comments came after Energy Secretary Chris Wright deleted a post on X (formerly Twitter) earlier that day. In his now-removed post, Wright claimed that the U.S. Navy had escorted an oil tanker through the Strait to ensure the steady flow of oil to global markets. When questioned about the deletion, Leavitt reiterated that no such escort had taken place.

Additionally, the White House stated that there are no new announcements regarding the lifting of energy sanctions. This indicates that current policies remain unchanged for the time being.
