UK Stock Market Performance#

The FTSE 100, a key index of the largest companies listed in the UK, rose by 1.04%. Additionally, the British pound strengthened against the U.S. dollar, gaining about 1% to reach 1.3420. U.S.-Iran Diplomatic Efforts#
According to reports from the Wall Street Journal, mediators from Turkey, Egypt, and Pakistan are working to facilitate talks between U.S. and Iranian officials, potentially starting as early as Thursday. This development comes as U.S. President Donald Trump seeks a diplomatic resolution to ongoing tensions involving U.S.-Israeli forces and Iran, with Washington reportedly offering a 15-point peace proposal.
UK Inflation Data#
In economic news, UK consumer price inflation remained steady at 3.0% in February 2026, aligning with economists' expectations. This figure indicates that prices for goods and services have not increased compared to the previous year. The core inflation rate, which excludes the more volatile food and energy prices, rose slightly to 3.2% from 3.1%. Services inflation, however, showed a slight decline, falling to 4.3% from 4.4%, marking its slowest growth since March 2022.

In corporate news, Diageo PLC's subsidiary, United Spirits Limited, announced it would sell its entire stake in Royal Challengers Sports Private Limited for approximately $1.97 billion to a consortium that includes the Aditya Birla Group and Blackstone.
Meanwhile, RS Group PLC expects its adjusted profit before tax to slightly exceed market expectations for fiscal year 2026, despite a projected revenue decline of about 0.6%.
