Market Overview#
U.K. equities closed lower on Monday, primarily due to declines in the Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs), Real Estate, and Household Goods & Home Construction sectors. This downturn led the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 index to drop by 0.26%, reaching a new one-month low.
Top Performers#
Despite the overall decline, some companies managed to post gains. Shell PLC saw an increase of 2.36%, adding 74 points to close at 3,207.00. BP PLC also rose by 2.23%, gaining 11.10 points to end at 510.00. Additionally, BAE Systems PLC increased by 2.03%, up 45 points to finish at 2,259.00.
Notable Declines#
On the other hand, several stocks faced significant losses. Smurfit WestRock PLC dropped 7.14%, losing 232 points to trade at 3,017.00. Vistry Group PLC declined by 5.87%, down 26.30 points to close at 421.90, while Persimmon PLC fell by 5.49%, shedding 71 points to end at 1,223.50.
