UBS Downgrades Logitech#
UBS has changed its rating for Logitech International from "buy" to "neutral," adjusting its 12-month price target from CHF88 to CHF80. This decision comes as the Swiss bank noted a slowdown in earnings and signs that the gaming market is maturing in North America and Europe.
Share Price Reaction#
Following the downgrade, Logitech's shares fell by 5.4%, reaching CHF71.64. This decline occurred on a trading volume of 266,120 shares, significantly lower than the previous day's volume of 841,180 shares. Over the past year, the stock has fluctuated between CHF55.94 and CHF98.64, with a current market capitalization of CHF11.4 billion.
Earnings Estimates and Market Concerns#
UBS analysts have reduced their earnings per share (EPS) estimates for fiscal years 2027 and 2028 by 3%, now projecting $4.99 and $5.28 respectively. These figures fall short of the consensus estimates of $5.60 and $6.09. The fiscal year 2026 EPS estimate remains unchanged at $4.82, compared to a consensus of $5.48. UBS also increased its weighted average cost of capital by 50 basis points to 7.5%, citing potential job reductions due to advancements in artificial intelligence that may decrease demand for Logitech's products like mice and keyboards.
Gaming Revenue Challenges#
The gaming segment, which represents 29% of Logitech's total revenues, is facing significant challenges. Revenue peaked at $1.452 billion in fiscal year 2021/22 but dropped to $1.212 billion in 2022/23. UBS anticipates a partial recovery to $1.339 billion by fiscal year 2026, but expects only modest growth thereafter due to increasing market saturation. The analysts highlighted that the number of new gamers entering the market needs to increase from approximately 25 million annually to sustain robust growth.
Future Projections#
Logitech's non-GAAP EBIT margin is projected to rise from around 11% in fiscal year 2019 to 16.3% by 2026, though UBS expects a slight decline to 16.1% in 2027 due to rising marketing expenses. Group revenues are forecasted to reach $4.82 billion in 2026, increasing to $4.94 billion in 2027 and $5.11 billion in 2028. UBS estimates that Logitech's net cash will grow from $1.503 billion in 2025 to $1.751 billion by 2027. In a more optimistic scenario, UBS values Logitech at CHF95 with 6% sales growth, while a pessimistic outlook places the value at CHF55 with a 4% revenue decline.
