UAE's Strong Condemnation#

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has strongly condemned Iran's recent attacks on shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, referring to these actions as economic terrorism. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, the CEO of the state-owned Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, emphasized that no nation should be allowed to threaten this crucial waterway.

Importance of the Strait of Hormuz#

The Strait of Hormuz is a vital sea route for global oil transportation, with approximately 20% of the world's oil and liquefied natural gas passing through it. However, recent attacks by Iran have severely disrupted tanker traffic in the region, raising concerns about global energy supplies.

Security Concerns Over Supply Issues#

Al Jaber highlighted that the ongoing situation is more about security than supply. He stressed that the only sustainable solution is to keep the Strait of Hormuz open for safe passage. The UAE has faced numerous attacks from Iran, despite not engaging in military actions against the country.

The Impact of Attacks#

Since the onset of the conflict, Iran has launched a significant number of missiles and drones at the UAE, resulting in casualties and injuries. Al Jaber described these attacks as illegal and unprovoked, asserting that the UAE has made every effort to avoid conflict. The situation escalated following a major strike by the U.S. and Israel against Iran, which has led to Iran retaliating against neighboring countries.
