Market Overview#
Turkey's stock market saw positive movement on Monday, with the BIST 100 index increasing by 0.92% at the close in Istanbul. This rise was largely fueled by strong performances in the Technology, Basic Metals, and Holdings & Investments sectors.
Top Gainers#
The biggest winners on the BIST 100 included Turkiye Sise ve Cam Fabrikalari AS, which surged by 9.99%, closing at 48.68. Ral Yatirim Holding AS followed closely with a 9.96% increase, ending the day at 153.40. Can2 Termik AS also saw a notable rise of 7.01%, closing at 1.68.
Notable Declines#
On the flip side, some stocks faced significant losses. Efor Yatırım Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. dropped 9.93%, closing at 10.16. Enerjisa Enerji AS fell by 8.91% to 113.50, while Anadolu Metal Madencilik Isletmeleri AS lost 7.98%, ending at 132.70. Overall, declining stocks outnumbered those that rose, with 308 declines compared to 295 gains, and 14 stocks remained unchanged.
Commodities and Currency Update#
In commodities, Gold Futures for June delivery decreased by 2.68%, settling at $4,485.84 per troy ounce. Crude oil prices also fell, with May delivery down 11.40% to $87.03 a barrel, and June Brent oil down 10.82% to $94.90. In currency markets, the Turkish Lira saw slight increases against the US Dollar and Euro, with USD/TRY at 44.31 and EUR/TRY at 51.49. Meanwhile, the US Dollar Index Futures fell by 0.53% to 98.93.
