Turkey's stock market closed lower on Wednesday, with the BIST 100 index declining by 0.78%. This drop was largely influenced by losses in several key sectors, including Telecoms, Tourism, and Wood, Paper & Printing.

Notable Gainers#

Despite the overall decline, some stocks performed well. Reeder Teknoloji Sanayi Ve Ticaret AS saw a significant increase of 9.88%, closing at 8.12. Mavi Giyim Sanayi Ve Ticaret AS also gained 3.54%, ending the day at 44.40. EIS Eczacibasi Ilac Sinai ve Finansal Yatirimlar Sanayi ve Ticaret AS rose by 2.37%, closing at 121.00.

Major Losers#

On the other hand, several companies faced substantial losses. Efor Yatırım Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. dropped by 9.99%, trading at 12.53. Kiler Holding AS fell by 9.94%, ending at 129.60, while Turk Altin Isletmeleri AS lost 6.51%, closing at 49.08.

Overall, the number of declining stocks outnumbered those that rose, with 397 stocks declining compared to 195 that increased, and 26 remaining unchanged on the Istanbul Stock Exchange. In commodities, Gold Futures for April delivery fell by 2.65% to $4,875.71 per troy ounce, while Crude oil prices saw an increase, with May contracts rising to $98.11 per barrel. The Turkish Lira also experienced slight changes against the US Dollar and Euro, with USD/TRY at 44.22 and EUR/TRY at 51.13.
