Market Overview#
Turkey's stock market experienced a downturn on Tuesday, with the BIST 100 index closing down by 1.81%. This decline was largely influenced by losses in key sectors, including Banking, Insurance, and Basic Metals.
Notable Gainers#
Despite the overall market decline, some stocks managed to perform well. Tekfen Holding AS saw an increase of 5.12%, rising 4.30 points to close at 88.25. Ral Yatirim Holding AS followed closely with a gain of 4.37%, adding 6.70 points to end at 160.10. Margun Enerji Uretim Sanayi ve Ticaret AS also saw a positive movement, up 4.32% or 2.11 points, closing at 50.95.
Major Losers#
On the flip side, several stocks faced significant losses. Efor Yatırım Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. dropped 9.94%, losing 1.01 points to trade at 9.15. Reeder Teknoloji Sanayi Ve Ticaret AS declined by 9.47%, down 0.83 points to finish at 7.93. Kiler Holding AS also saw a substantial decrease of 8.82%, shedding 10.80 points to close at 111.60.
Market Statistics#
Overall, the number of declining stocks outpaced those that rose, with 454 stocks declining compared to 150 that increased, while 15 remained unchanged on the Istanbul Stock Exchange. In commodities, Gold Futures for June delivery rose by 0.19% to $4,448.11 per troy ounce. Crude oil prices also increased, with May delivery up 3.47% to $91.19 a barrel and June Brent oil up 2.80% to $98.61 a barrel. Currency-wise, the USD/TRY rose slightly to 44.35, while EUR/TRY fell to 51.48.
