Taiwan Market Overview#
Taiwan's stock market saw positive movement on Thursday, with the Taiwan Weighted Index increasing by 2.06%. This rise was primarily fueled by strong performances in the Electronic Parts/Components, Machinery, and Electronics sectors.
Top Performers#
Among the top gainers, ITEQ Corp (TW:6213) led the way, climbing 10.00% or 11.50 points to close at 126.50. Nanya Technology Corp (TW:2408) also saw a significant increase of 10.00%, adding 21.00 points to finish at 231.00. Yeong Guan Energy Technology Group Co Ltd (TW:1589) rose by 9.92%, gaining 0.66 points to end at 7.31.
Notable Declines#
On the flip side, Great Taipei Gas Corp (TW:9908) was the biggest loser, dropping 10.00% or 3.45 points to close at 31.05. Formosa Petrochemical Corp (TW:6505) fell by 9.97%, losing 6.80 points to end at 61.40, while Shin Hai Gas Corp (TW:9926) also declined by 9.97%, shedding 5.70 points to finish at 51.50.
Commodities and Currency Update#
In commodities, crude oil prices saw a notable increase, with April delivery rising by 6.58% to $92.99 per barrel. Brent oil for May delivery also climbed by 6.96% to $98.38 a barrel. However, April Gold Futures experienced a slight decline of 0.33%, trading at $5,161.86 per troy ounce.
In currency markets, the US Dollar (USD) strengthened slightly against the New Taiwan Dollar (TWD), rising by 0.08% to 31.82. The exchange rate for TWD to Chinese Yuan (CNY) remained stable at 0.22.
