Overview of Market Performance#

Spain's stock market showed positive momentum at the close of trading on Tuesday, with the IBEX 35 index rising by 3.05%. This increase was primarily fueled by strong performances in the Financial Services, Real Estate, Consumer Services, and Building & Construction sectors.

Notable Gainers#

Among the top performers on the IBEX 35, ArcelorMittal SA saw a significant rise of 6.91%, adding 3.18 points to finish at 49.21. Banco Santander also had a strong day, increasing by 5.73% or 0.54 points, closing at 10.01. Additionally, International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. rose by 5.13%, gaining 0.21 points to end at 4.34.

Stocks on the Decline#

On the flip side, some stocks experienced losses. Grifols SA fell by 1.85%, losing 0.18 points to trade at 9.74. Repsol saw a decline of 1.05%, down 0.22 points to close at 20.75, while Amadeus IT dropped by 0.45%, shedding 0.24 points to finish at 53.62.

Market Breadth and Commodity Updates#

Overall, advancing stocks outnumbered those that declined, with 162 stocks rising compared to 38 that fell, while 12 remained unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange. In commodities, Gold Futures for April delivery rose by 2.68%, reaching $5,240.49 per troy ounce. Conversely, Crude Oil prices fell sharply, with April delivery down 15.18% to $80.38 per barrel, and the May Brent oil contract dropping 14.55% to trade at $84.56 per barrel. The Euro remained stable against the US Dollar and the British Pound, while the US Dollar Index Futures decreased by 0.65% to 98.53.
