On Monday, Russian equities experienced a positive close, with the MOEX Russia Index increasing by 1.14%. This rise was largely fueled by strong performances in the Oil & Gas, Power, and Mining sectors.

Key Gainers on the MOEX Russia Index#

Among the standout performers, NOVATEK PJSC saw a significant increase of 3.22%, adding 37.50 points to close at 1,202.90. Other notable gainers included Bank VTB PJSC, which rose by 2.81% or 2.68 points to finish at 98.09, and TATNEFT n.a. V.D. Shashin, which climbed 2.66% or 15.10 points to close at 582.60.

Notable Declines#

Despite the overall positive trend, some stocks faced losses. Moskovskiy Kreditnyi Bank PAO was the biggest loser, dropping 11.81% or 0.93 points to trade at 6.91. Other declining stocks included AK ALROSA PJSC, which fell 1.39% to 31.24, and Novolipetsk Steel, down 1.17% to 92.64.

Conversely, Crude oil prices rose, with June delivery increasing by 4.00% to $85.89 per barrel, and the June Brent oil contract slightly up by 0.08% to $94.35 per barrel. Currency exchange rates remained stable, with the USD/RUB unchanged at 74.96 and EUR/RUB also steady at 88.34.
