Market Overview#
On Tuesday, Russian equities closed higher, with the MOEX Russia Index increasing by 0.19%. This rise was largely fueled by positive performances in the Oil & Gas, Manufacturing, and Telecoms sectors.
Top Performers#
Among the biggest gainers on the MOEX Russia Index were: - OZON: Up 2.27%, or 99 points, closing at 4,460.00. - Magnit PJSC: Increased by 2.14%, or 67 points, ending at 3,205.00. - Gazprom PJSC: Rose by 1.99%, or 2.62 points, to close at 134.29.
Notable Declines#
Conversely, some stocks faced losses: - Surgutneftegas PJSC Pref: Down 2.61%, or 1.23 points, trading at 45.69. - OK Rusal MKPAO: Declined by 1.91%, or 0.79 points, to end at 40.28. - PhosAgro PJSC: Shed 1.87%, or 142 points, closing at 7,458.00.
Overall, declining stocks outnumbered rising ones, with 135 declines compared to 105 gains, and 13 stocks remained unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
Volatility and Commodities#
The Russian Volatility Index (RVI), which gauges the expected volatility of the MOEX Russia Index options, decreased by 1.12% to 24.82.
In commodities, Gold Futures for June delivery rose by 1.47%, or 65.40, to $4,504.90 per troy ounce. Crude oil prices also saw movement, with May delivery rising by 0.30%, or 0.26, to $88.39 per barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell by 0.32%, or 0.31, to $95.78 per barrel.
Currency exchange rates remained stable, with the USD/RUB unchanged at 80.73 and EUR/RUB also steady at 93.50. The US Dollar Index Futures increased by 0.31% to 99.04.
