Notable Gainers#
Despite the overall decline, some stocks managed to post gains. Bank VTB PJSC saw a slight increase of 0.28%, closing at 94.29. Polyus PJSC also rose by 0.08%, ending the day at 2,289.80. Additionally, GDR ROS AGRO PLC remained unchanged, finishing at 1,083.80.
Major Losers#
On the flip side, several stocks faced significant losses. AK ALROSA PJSC dropped by 3.85%, trading at 29.96. AFK Sistema PJSC fell by 3.31%, closing at 11.94, while VK Company Ltd lost 3.23%, ending at 262.10. Overall, declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by a ratio of 207 to 32, with 12 stocks remaining unchanged.
Market Volatility and Commodities#
The Russian Volatility Index (RVI), which indicates market uncertainty based on options for the MOEX Russia Index, increased by 2.34%, reaching 22.31. In the commodities market, Gold Futures for June delivery rose slightly by 0.03%, trading at $4,725.40 per troy ounce. Conversely, Crude Oil for June delivery decreased by 1.01%, settling at $94.88 per barrel, while Brent oil saw a modest increase of 0.79%, trading at $105.90 per barrel. Currency exchange rates also shifted, with the USD/RUB down 0.57% to 75.44 and EUR/RUB down 0.51% to 88.19.
