Market Overview#

Portugal's stock market saw positive movement at the end of trading on Thursday, with the PSI index increasing by 0.83%. This rise was largely fueled by strong performances in the Utilities, Consumer Services, and Telecom sectors.

Top Performers#

Among the leading stocks, EDP Renovaveis (ELI:EDPR) experienced the most significant gain, rising by 3.31% to close at 13.42. Jeronimo Martins SGPS SA (ELI:JMT) followed closely, adding 2.69% to finish at 22.18. Galp Energia Nom (ELI:GALP) also saw a notable increase of 2.34%, closing at 20.58.

Decliners#

On the downside, Teixeira Duarte (ELI:TDSA) was the biggest loser, dropping 4.82% to trade at 0.45. Mota Engil SGPS SA (ELI:MOTA) fell by 4.81% to close at 4.55, while Banco Comercial Portugues (ELI:BCP) declined by 3.34%, ending at 0.80.

Market Dynamics#

Overall, advancing stocks outnumbered those that declined, with 17 stocks gaining, 10 losing, and 4 remaining unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange. In commodities, Brent oil prices rose significantly, with May delivery up 8.34% to $99.65 per barrel, while crude oil for April delivery increased by 9.02% to $95.12.
