Market Overview#
Portugal's stock market saw positive movement at the close on Tuesday, with the PSI index increasing by 0.50%. This rise was largely fueled by strong performances in the Utilities, Telecoms, and Technology sectors.
Notable Gainers#
Among the top performers on the PSI, Galp Energia Nom led the way, climbing 2.32% to close at 21.18. EDP Renovaveis followed closely, gaining 2.02% to finish at 13.64. Additionally, EDP Energias de Portugal SA saw an increase of 1.58%, closing at 4.45.
Biggest Declines#
On the flip side, some stocks faced declines. Jeronimo Martins SGPS SA experienced the largest drop, falling 2.58% to 21.88. Altri SGPS SA decreased by 2.04% to 4.57, while CTT Correios de Portugal SA shed 1.33%, ending at 6.70. Overall, there were 15 declining stocks compared to 12 that rose, with 3 remaining unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
Commodities and Currency Update#
In commodities, Brent oil for May delivery rose by 2.43%, reaching $102.65 per barrel. Crude oil for the same month increased by 2.64% to hit $94.90 per barrel. Gold futures for April also saw a slight uptick of 0.17%, trading at $5,010.66 per troy ounce.
In currency markets, the EUR/USD exchange rate remained stable at 1.15, while the EUR/GBP held steady at 0.86. The US Dollar Index Futures dipped slightly by 0.12%, settling at 99.35.
