Overview of the Market#

Norway's stock market experienced a positive close on Tuesday, with the Oslo OBX index rising by 0.70%. This increase was largely fueled by strong performances in the Healthcare Equipment & Services, Pharma Biotech & Life Sciences, and Utilities sectors.

Top Gainers#

Among the standout performers on the Oslo OBX, Nel ASA saw a significant rise of 3.70%, adding 0.09 points to reach a closing price of 2.52. Hafnia Ltd also performed well, increasing by 3.23% or 2.45 points to end at 78.30. Equinor ASA rounded out the top gainers with a 2.62% increase, adding 8.80 points to close at 344.90.

Notable Losers#

On the downside, SalMar ASA was the biggest loser, dropping by 2.85% or 16.00 points to close at 545.50. Mowi ASA followed with a decline of 2.00%, losing 4.20 points to end at 206.20. Orkla ASA also saw a slight decrease of 0.67%, shedding 0.80 points to close at 119.50.

Market Activity#

Overall, advancing stocks outnumbered those that fell, with 146 stocks gaining compared to 109 that declined, while 28 remained unchanged on the Oslo Stock Exchange. In commodities, crude oil prices saw an increase, with June delivery up 1.22% to $88.49 a barrel, and Brent oil rising 1.01% to $96.44. However, gold futures fell by 1.51%, trading at $4,755.89 per troy ounce.

In currency markets, the Euro gained slightly against the Norwegian Krone, rising 0.11% to 10.98, while the US Dollar increased by 0.34% to 9.34. The US Dollar Index Futures also saw a modest rise of 0.17%, reaching 98.07.
