Market Overview#
Norway's stock market saw positive movement on Monday, with the Oslo OBX index rising by 0.56%. This increase was largely supported by strong performances in the Healthcare Equipment & Services, Pharma Biotech & Life Sciences, and Utilities sectors.
Top Performers#
Among the biggest gainers on the Oslo OBX, TGS NOPEC Geophysical Company ASA saw a notable increase of 9.80%, adding 12.30 points to close at 137.80. Var Energi ASA followed with a rise of 3.47%, gaining 1.45 points to finish at 43.20. Aker BP ASA also performed well, increasing by 2.81%, or 9.00 points, to close at 329.80.
Notable Declines#
On the flip side, Norwegian Air Shuttle ASA experienced the largest drop, losing 4.18% or 0.62 points, ending the day at 14.09. Hafnia Ltd saw a decline of 2.13%, down 1.65 points to close at 75.85, while Nordic Semiconductor ASA fell by 1.78%, shedding 3.30 points to finish at 182.50.
Market Statistics#
Overall, advancing stocks slightly outnumbered those that declined, with 133 stocks rising compared to 132 that fell, while 16 stocks remained unchanged on the Oslo Stock Exchange. In commodities, crude oil prices rose significantly, with June delivery up 5.71% to $87.31 per barrel and Brent oil rising 5.74% to $95.57. Additionally, the June Gold Futures contract fell by 1.11% to $4,825.45 per troy ounce. Currency exchange rates showed the Euro down 0.28% against the Norwegian Krone, while the US Dollar also fell by 0.35%.
