Overview of Production Results#

In February, Norway's combined oil and gas production exceeded official forecasts by 0.7%. This increase was primarily due to higher crude oil output, despite a decrease in natural gas production, according to the Norwegian Offshore Directorate.

Oil and Gas Output Figures#

The total output, which includes oil, condensate, natural gas liquids, and gas, reached 0.701 million standard cubic meters per day. This figure is equivalent to approximately 4.41 million barrels of oil equivalent, representing a 5.7% increase compared to the same month last year.

Changes in Natural Gas Production#

Natural gas production saw a decline in February, falling to 355.1 million cubic meters per day. This is down from 356.4 million cubic meters per day a year earlier and also below the forecast of 362.8 million cubic meters by 2.1%.

Crude Oil Production Growth#

On the other hand, crude oil production rose significantly to 1.97 million barrels per day in February, up from 1.71 million barrels per day during the same month last year. This figure also surpassed the forecast of 1.86 million barrels per day by 5.7%.

Norway's Role in Energy Supply#

As Europe’s largest supplier of natural gas and a key oil producer, Norway's production levels can fluctuate monthly due to maintenance and operational stoppages at nearly 100 offshore fields.
