Overview of the Market#
Norwegian equities closed lower on Monday, primarily driven by declines in the Media, Transport, and Diversified Financials sectors. The Oslo OBX index, which tracks the performance of the largest companies on the Oslo Stock Exchange, fell by 0.40% by the end of the trading day.
Notable Gainers#
Despite the overall decline, some stocks managed to perform well. Nel ASA saw a notable increase of 5.11%, rising by 0.12 points to close at 2.47. Subsea 7 SA also gained, adding 2.03% or 6.40 points to finish at 322.40. Additionally, Tomra Systems ASA rose by 1.94%, up 1.75 points to close at 91.75.
Major Losers#
On the other hand, several stocks faced significant losses. Nordic Semiconductor ASA dropped by 3.08%, losing 5.80 points to trade at 182.40. Hafnia Ltd experienced a decline of 1.52%, down 1.20 points to end at 78.00, while Frontline Ltd shed 1.49%, falling 4.90 points to close at 324.80.
Market Statistics#
Overall, declining stocks outnumbered those that rose, with 147 stocks falling compared to 114 that gained, and 22 stocks remained unchanged on the Oslo Stock Exchange. In commodities, crude oil prices rose, with June delivery up 2.38% to $96.65 per barrel, and Brent oil for July delivery increasing by 2.58% to $101.69 per barrel. However, June Gold Futures saw a decrease of 1.03%, trading at $4,691.86 per troy ounce.
In currency markets, the Euro was down 0.10% against the Norwegian Krone (NOK), trading at 10.89, while the US Dollar fell by 0.21% to 9.28 NOK. The US Dollar Index Futures also declined by 0.19%, settling at 98.18.
