On Friday, the Dutch stock market showed positive momentum, with the AEX index increasing by 0.10% at the close in Amsterdam. This rise was mainly supported by strong performances in the Telecoms, Oil & Gas, and Consumer Goods sectors.

Top Performers#

The biggest gainers on the AEX included BE Semiconductor Industries NV, which saw a significant increase of 5.62%, adding 9.85 points to reach a closing price of 185.10. CVC Capital Partners PLC followed with a rise of 2.68%, or 0.29 points, ending at 11.10. Prosus also performed well, up 2.61% or 1.19 points, closing at 46.62.

Notable Declines#

On the other hand, some stocks faced declines. ArcelorMittal SA experienced a drop of 4.28%, losing 2.00 points to trade at 44.73. Exor NV fell by 3.40%, down 2.40 points to close at 68.20, while ASM International NV decreased by 3.08%, shedding 21.80 points to settle at 686.00.

Overall, declining stocks outnumbered those that rose, with 60 stocks declining compared to 38 that gained, while 9 remained unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange. The AEX Volatility, which indicates the expected fluctuations in the market, remained stable at 21.09.

In the commodities market, crude oil prices saw an increase, with April delivery up by 0.84% to $96.53 per barrel, and Brent oil for May delivery rising by 0.57% to $101.03. However, April Gold Futures fell by 1.40%, trading at $5,053.99 per troy ounce. In currency markets, the EUR/USD pair decreased by 0.63% to 1.14, while the EUR/GBP remained steady at 0.86. The US Dollar Index Futures rose by 0.60% to 100.36.
