Market Overview#
On Tuesday, Mexico's stock market saw positive movement, with the S&P/BMV IPC index increasing by 2.18%. This rise was largely fueled by strong performances in the Industrials, Consumer Goods & Services, and Consumer Staples sectors.
Top Performers#
Among the standout companies, Megacable Holdings, S.A.B. De C.V. led the way with a notable increase of 5.89%, bringing its share price to 61.27. America Movil SAB de CV M followed closely, rising by 4.65% to close at 22.07. Sigma Foods SAB de CV also performed well, gaining 4.32% to finish at 17.64.
Notable Declines#
Conversely, some companies experienced losses. Industrias Penoles Sab De CV saw a decrease of 0.53%, ending at 771.70. Bolsa Mexicana De Valores SAB De CV fell by 0.51% to close at 36.72, while Grupo Elektra, S.A.B. De C.V. remained unchanged at 373.10.
Market Activity#
Overall, advancing stocks outnumbered those that declined, with 140 stocks rising compared to 83 that fell, while 16 stocks remained unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange. In the commodities market, Gold Futures for June delivery increased by 1.47%, reaching $4,504.90 per troy ounce. Crude oil prices also saw a slight rise, with May delivery crude up 0.30% to $88.39 per barrel. However, the June Brent oil contract fell by 0.77% to $95.35.
In currency markets, the Mexican Peso appreciated slightly against the US Dollar, with the exchange rate at 17.73, while the Euro also dipped to 20.59 against the Peso.
