The decline in the stock market was primarily influenced by losses in the Industrials, Consumer Goods & Services, and Consumer Staples sectors. These sectors are crucial as they encompass a wide range of companies that provide essential products and services to consumers.
Notable Gainers and Losers#
Despite the overall decline, some stocks managed to perform well. Grupo Aeroportuario Del CentroNorte saw an increase of 2.42%, closing at 247.29. Similarly, Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacifico SAB De CV Class B also rose by 2.42%, ending at 425.72. Grupo Aeroportuario Del Sureste increased by 1.96%, closing at 580.88.
On the other hand, several companies faced significant losses. Industrias Penoles Sab De CV dropped by 8.53%, closing at 789.58. Genomma Lab Internacional SAB De CV fell by 8.10%, ending at 17.35, while Grupo Mexico, S.A.B. De C.V. decreased by 3.34%, closing at 179.83. Overall, declining stocks outnumbered those that rose, with 156 stocks falling compared to 80 that gained, and 14 remaining unchanged.
Commodity and Currency Updates#
In commodities, Gold Futures for April delivery decreased by 4.99%, settling at $4,651.90 per troy ounce. Crude oil prices also fell, with May delivery down 0.91% to $94.59 per barrel, while the May Brent oil contract dropped 0.23% to $107.54 per barrel.
In currency markets, the exchange rate for USD/MXN remained stable at 17.73, while EUR/MXN slightly decreased by 0.05% to 20.54. The US Dollar Index Futures saw a decline of 0.84%, reaching 99.03.
