Overview of the Contract#

Jacobs, a major engineering firm, has won a multi-year contract with the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County's Department of Transportation and Multimodal Infrastructure. This contract is part of the Choose How You Move program, which aims to improve transportation in the city.

Key Features of the Program#

The Choose How You Move program includes over 50 different project types, such as planning for multiple transportation modes, traffic management, infrastructure design, and community engagement. Jacobs will act as a strategic consultant to help implement these improvements throughout Nashville. Key components of the project involve constructing 86 miles of new sidewalks and modernizing nearly 600 traffic signals. Additionally, the program will enhance 54 miles of corridors and introduce dedicated lanes for public transit.

Innovative Approaches#

Jacobs plans to use real-time mobility analytics, including data from StreetLight, to optimize traffic signals. This technology aims to improve traffic flow, enhance safety, and reduce congestion in busy areas of the city.

Commitment to Shareholders#

Jacobs has a strong track record of returning value to its shareholders, having raised its dividend for seven consecutive years. Recently, the company declared a quarterly cash dividend of $0.36 per share, demonstrating its commitment to shareholder value. The company also reported approximately $12 billion in annual revenue and employs around 47,000 people.

In addition to the Nashville contract, Jacobs is involved in other significant projects, including designing underground stations for Sydney Metro West in collaboration with GHD and WSP.
