Market Overview#
On Tuesday, Indian equities experienced a positive close, with the Nifty 50 index increasing by 1.98% and the BSE Sensex 30 index rising by 1.89%. The upward movement was largely supported by strong performances in the Consumer Durables, Banking, and Auto sectors.
Top Performers#
Among the standout performers on the Nifty 50, Larsen & Toubro Ltd saw a significant gain of 5.25%, closing at 3,518.00. Other notable gainers included Eternal Ltd, which rose by 4.89% to finish at 238.05, and Bajaj Finance Ltd, which increased by 4.85% to close at 852.00. Similarly, on the BSE Sensex 30, Larsen & Toubro Ltd and Eternal Ltd also led the way, with gains of 5.33% and 4.94%, respectively.
Notable Declines#
On the flip side, some stocks faced losses. Coal India Ltd dropped by 3.00% to 441.60, while Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd fell by 1.22% to 298.40. Adani Enterprises Ltd also saw a slight decline of 0.43%, closing at 1,825.20.

Overall, advancing stocks outnumbered those that declined, with 1,920 stocks rising compared to 643 that fell on the National Stock Exchange. On the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2,748 stocks advanced while 1,265 declined. The India VIX, which indicates market volatility, decreased by 6.82% to 24.91.
In the commodities market, Gold Futures for June delivery increased by 0.26% to $4,451.24 per troy ounce. Crude oil prices also rose, with May delivery crude oil up 2.19% to $90.06 per barrel, and June Brent oil rising by 1.47% to $97.33 per barrel. Currency exchange rates showed the USD/INR rising by 0.57% to 93.72, while EUR/INR increased by 0.38% to 108.66.
