Overview of Market Performance#

On Monday, Greece's stock market closed lower, with the Athens General Composite index dropping by 2.14%. This decline was primarily driven by losses in the Banking, Telecom, and Household sectors.

Notable Gainers#

Despite the overall downturn, there were a few stocks that managed to gain. Interlife General Insurance Company SA saw an increase of 1.49%, closing at 6.80. Athens Medical also rose by 1.39%, finishing at 1.83, while Thessaloniki Port Authority SA climbed 1.30% to close at 39.10.

Major Losers#

On the other hand, several companies faced significant losses. Metlen Energy & Metals experienced the largest drop, falling 4.52% to 34.66. Elvalhalcor Hellenic Copper and Aluminium Industry SA decreased by 4.40%, ending at 4.01, and Aegean Airlines saw a decline of 4.39%, closing at 13.06. Overall, declining stocks outnumbered those that rose, with 85 stocks falling compared to 27 that gained, and 14 remaining unchanged.

In the commodities market, Gold Futures for June delivery fell by 0.96%, trading at $4,832.71 per troy ounce. Conversely, Crude Oil prices rose, with June delivery increasing by 5.01% to $86.73 per barrel. The Euro to US Dollar exchange rate remained stable at 1.18, while the Euro to British Pound exchange rate was also steady at 0.87. The US Dollar Index Futures saw a slight increase of 0.05%, reaching 97.95.
