Overview of the Market#

On Monday, the Greek stock market closed on a positive note, with the Athens General Composite Index increasing by 0.26%. This uptick was largely fueled by strong performances in the Construction, Travel, and Technology sectors.

Notable Gainers#

Among the standout performers, Evropi Holdings SA saw a significant rise of 4.74%, adding 0.09 points to close at 1.99. Austriacard Holdings AG followed closely with a gain of 4.23%, ending the day at 7.40, while HELLENiQ ENERGY Holdings SA increased by 4.00%, closing at 9.88.

Declining Stocks#

On the flip side, some stocks faced declines. Cenergy Holdings SA dropped by 4.61%, losing 0.88 points to trade at 18.20. Optima Bank SA experienced a decrease of 2.05%, closing at 8.58, and Alumil saw a slight decline of 2.01%, ending at 5.84. Overall, there were more declining stocks than gaining ones, with 69 stocks falling compared to 52 that rose, while 11 remained unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.

Commodities and Currency Updates#

In commodities, Gold Futures for April delivery fell by 1.26%, trading at $4,997.76 per troy ounce. Crude oil prices also declined, with May delivery falling by 3.17% to $93.77 per barrel, and the May Brent oil contract decreasing by 1.67% to $101.42. In currency markets, the EUR/USD pair rose by 0.67% to 1.15, while the EUR/GBP remained stable at 0.86. The US Dollar Index Futures dropped by 0.46%, settling at 99.64.
