Market Overview#

Germany's stock market closed lower on Friday, with significant declines in the Construction, Industrials, and Transportation & Logistics sectors. The DAX index, which represents the 30 largest companies on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, fell by 0.65%. Other indices also experienced losses, with the MDAX down 1.47% and the TecDAX declining by 0.19%.

Notable Gainers and Losers#

Among the DAX's biggest gainers was Zalando SE, which saw a rise of 6.90%, closing at 23.54. Other notable performers included Rheinmetall AG, up 2.71% to 1,592.50, and E.ON SE, which increased by 2.60% to 19.90.

In contrast, Siemens Energy AG faced the largest drop, losing 5.70% to close at 143.95. Volkswagen AG and Daimler Truck Holding AG also saw declines of 3.12% and 2.40%, respectively.

MDAX and TecDAX Highlights#

In the MDAX, K+S AG was a standout performer, rising by 2.35% to 18.26. RTL Group SA and TeamViewer AG also posted gains. However, Thyssenkrupp AG suffered the most, dropping 6.02% to 7.80.

The TecDAX saw Siltronic AG lead with an impressive gain of 8.06%, while 11 AG experienced the largest decline, falling by 8.80%.

Market Statistics#

Overall, declining stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, with 374 stocks falling compared to 242 that rose. The DAX volatility index, which indicates market uncertainty, increased by 2.10%, reaching a six-month high.

In commodities, gold futures fell by 1.42%, while crude oil prices saw slight increases. The euro also weakened against the US dollar, reflecting broader market trends.
