Under this contract, General Dynamics will offer a range of services such as design and planning yard support for both operational strategic and attack submarines. The work will be conducted under a cost-plus-fixed-fee arrangement, which means the company will be reimbursed for its costs plus a fixed fee for profit.
Distribution of Work Locations#
The project will take place across several locations, with the majority of the work (70%) being done in Groton, Connecticut. Other locations include Kings Bay, Georgia (13%), Bangor, Washington (10%), Pearl Harbor, Hawaii (3%), North Kingston, Rhode Island (2%), and Newport, Rhode Island (2%). The completion date for this project is set for June 2026.
Funding Breakdown#
At the time of the contract award, the Navy allocated $4,818,962 from various fiscal sources. This includes funds for research, development, test, and evaluation, as well as operations and maintenance. Notably, a portion of these funds ($2,218,962) will expire at the end of the current fiscal year, emphasizing the importance of timely project execution. The Naval Sea Systems Command in Washington, D.C., is overseeing this contracting activity.
