Overview of the Market#

Conversely, some stocks faced declines. Euronext experienced a drop of 1.85%, closing at 132.90. Bureau Veritas SA fell by 1.74% to finish at 26.00, while Carrefour SA saw a decrease of 1.57%, ending at 15.01.

Market Activity#

Overall, advancing stocks outnumbered those that fell, with 252 stocks rising compared to 240 that declined, while 77 remained unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange. The CAC 40 VIX, which indicates market volatility, remained stable at 18.96, marking a new 52-week high.

In commodities, Gold Futures for June delivery decreased by 4.30%, settling at $4,411.60 per troy ounce. Crude oil prices also fell, with May delivery down 8.43% to $89.95 per barrel, and the June Brent oil contract down 8.34% to $97.54 per barrel. Currency exchange rates showed the EUR/USD remained stable at 1.16, while the US Dollar Index Futures dropped by 0.39% to 99.07.
