Overview of February Traffic#
Fraport AG announced that passenger traffic at Frankfurt Airport remained flat in February, which means there was no increase or decrease compared to previous months. This stagnation in traffic coincided with similar levels of airport capacity, indicating that the number of available flights did not change either.
Factors Affecting Performance#
The flat traffic figures were influenced by two main factors: strike actions and adverse weather conditions. Strikes can disrupt operations by reducing staff availability, while bad weather can lead to flight cancellations and delays, both of which affect the number of passengers traveling.
International Airport Performance#
Fraport’s portfolio of international airports showed varied results. Notably, Ljubljana Airport in Slovenia saw a significant increase in passenger numbers, growing by 17.2%. Greek airports also performed well, with a rise of 9.1%. In contrast, Antalya Airport in Turkey experienced a decline of 3.8%. Other airports in Bulgaria, Brazil, and Lima also reported increases in passenger traffic, with growth rates of 11.4%, 14.7%, and 4.2%, respectively.
Future Outlook#
Looking ahead, capacity levels at Frankfurt Airport are expected to remain flat in March. However, analysts predict a growth rate of 3.3% for the fiscal year 2026, suggesting a potential recovery in passenger traffic as conditions improve.
