Market Overview#

Colombia's stock market experienced a positive close on Wednesday, with the COLCAP index rising by 0.12%. This increase was largely supported by strong performances in the Industrials, Services, and Agriculture sectors.

Top Performers#

Among the standout performers on the COLCAP, Grupo Bolivar SA saw a significant rise of 5.15%, adding 4,400 points to reach a closing price of 89,900. Bancolombia Pf followed with a gain of 3.13%, increasing by 1,980 points to close at 65,140. Mineros SA also performed well, up 3.09% or 520 points, ending the day at 17,360.

Notable Declines#

On the downside, Grupo Argos SA was the biggest loser, dropping 2.50% or 400 points to trade at 15,600. Grupo Energia Bogota SA ESP fell by 1.03%, losing 30 points to close at 2,885, while Ecopetrol SA saw a decrease of 0.42%, down 10 points to 2,380.

Market Dynamics#

Overall, the number of declining stocks outpaced those that rose, with a ratio of 1 to 0 on the Colombia Stock Exchange. In the commodities market, US coffee prices for May delivery fell by 3.18%, while cocoa and gold also experienced declines. The exchange rates showed slight decreases for the Colombian peso against the US dollar and Brazilian real.
