Colombia's stock market closed higher on Friday, with the COLCAP index increasing by 0.39%. This rise was supported by strong performances in the Industrials, Services, and Agriculture sectors.
Top Performers#
Among the biggest gainers on the COLCAP, Ecopetrol SA saw a notable increase of 2.80%, adding 70 points to close at 2,570. Corporacion Financiera Colombiana followed with a rise of 1.81%, gaining 320 points to end at 17,960. Cementos Argos Pf remained stable, closing unchanged at 13,500.
Notable Declines#
On the downside, Etb experienced the largest drop, losing 9.09% or 5 points to trade at 50. Grupo de Inversiones Suramericana SA Preferred fell by 6.43%, down 2,860 points to close at 41,620, while Interconnection Electric SA ESP decreased by 5.29%, shedding 1,560 points to finish at 27,940.
Market Dynamics#
Overall, declining stocks outnumbered those that rose, with a ratio of 1 to 0 on the Colombia Stock Exchange. In commodities, US coffee for May delivery dropped by 2.31%, while cocoa and gold futures also saw declines. Additionally, the exchange rate for the US dollar against the Colombian peso increased by 0.33%, reflecting broader currency market movements.
