Overview of Market Performance#

Colombia's stock market experienced a slight decline at the close of trading on Tuesday. The COLCAP index, which tracks the performance of the country's largest companies, fell by 0.05%. This downturn was primarily driven by losses in the Financials, Investment, and Public Services sectors.

Notable Gainers#

Despite the overall decline, some stocks managed to perform well. Promigas saw the most significant increase, rising by 4.23%, which translates to an increase of 270 points, bringing its share price to 6,650. Bancolombia Pf also had a strong day, gaining 3.60% or 2,200 points to close at 63,340. Additionally, Grupo Aval Acciones y Valores SA Pref increased by 3.47%, adding 25 points to reach a price of 745.

Major Losers#

On the flip side, several companies faced notable losses. Interconnection Electric SA ESP experienced the largest drop, losing 3.79% or 1,040 points, resulting in a share price of 26,400. Mineros SA followed with a decline of 2.63%, down 420 points to 15,540. Grupo Bolivar SA also saw a decrease of 2.32%, shedding 2,060 points to end at 86,840.

Overall, the number of declining stocks outpaced those that rose, with a ratio of 1 to 0 on the Colombia Stock Exchange. In the commodities market, US coffee prices increased by 0.68%, while cocoa prices fell by 2.72%. Gold futures saw a slight rise of 0.18%. Currency exchange rates showed the US dollar slightly weakening against the Colombian peso, down 0.01% to 3,701.32.
