Overview#
Brazilian stocks experienced a positive close on Tuesday, with the Bovespa index rising by 0.32%. This increase was largely driven by strong performances in the Basic Materials, Industrials, and Telecoms sectors.
Key Gainers#
Among the top performers on the Bovespa, Minerva SA/Brazil saw a notable increase of 4.80%, trading at 4.14. Marfrig Global Foods followed closely with a rise of 3.37%, closing at 19.66. Additionally, Companhia Brasileira De Distribuica gained 3.24%, ending the day at 2.18.
Notable Declines#
On the flip side, some stocks faced declines. Raizen SA Preferred dropped by 3.57%, trading at 0.54. Azzas 2154 SA fell by 2.83%, closing at 26.82, while RUMO Logistica Operadora Multimodal SA decreased by 1.96%, ending at 16.64. Overall, declining stocks outnumbered those that rose, with 510 stocks falling compared to 430 that gained, and 50 remaining unchanged on the B3 Stock Exchange.
Market Volatility and Commodities#
The CBOE Brazil ETF Volatility, which indicates the expected volatility of Bovespa options, decreased by 6.89% to 41.61. In the commodities market, Gold Futures for June delivery rose by 1.31%, reaching $4,497.59 per troy ounce. Crude oil for May delivery increased by 0.84%, hitting $88.87 per barrel, while the May US coffee C contract rose by 3.96%, trading at $319.15.
In currency markets, the USD/BRL remained stable, changing by just 0.02% to 5.23, and the EUR/BRL was also relatively unchanged at 6.08. The US Dollar Index Futures saw a slight increase of 0.28%, reaching 99.00.
