Brazilian stocks closed lower on Thursday, with the Bovespa index dropping by 0.78%. This decline was primarily driven by losses in the Real Estate, Consumption, and Financial sectors.
Notable Gainers and Losers#
Despite the overall downturn, some stocks managed to perform well. Hapvida Participacoes e Investimentos saw a notable increase of 5.14%, closing at 13.25. Azzas 2154 SA and WEG SA also experienced gains, rising by 2.33% and 1.86%, respectively.
On the other hand, several companies faced significant losses. Companhia Brasileira De Distribuica was the biggest loser, falling by 6.92% to close at 2.42. C A Modas SA and Grupo Vamos SA also saw declines of 5.85% and 5.68%.

Overall, the number of declining stocks outpaced those that rose, with 647 stocks falling compared to 320 that increased, while 35 remained unchanged on the B3 Stock Exchange.
Volatility and Commodities#
The CBOE Brazil ETF Volatility, which indicates the expected fluctuations in the Bovespa, decreased by 7.85% to 31.47. In commodities, Gold Futures for June delivery fell by 1.00%, while Crude Oil prices rose by 3.92%. The USD/BRL exchange rate increased by 0.95%, indicating a stronger dollar against the Brazilian real.
