Satellite Deployment Challenges#
On April 19, AST SpaceMobile was unable to successfully place its Bluebird 7 satellite into the intended orbit. BofA analyst Michael Funk described this failure as a negative shock but emphasized that it does not fundamentally alter the company's business outlook. The volatility of the stock's price indicates that investors are closely monitoring these developments.
Future Launch Plans and Risks#
BofA has expressed concerns about AST SpaceMobile's ability to meet its revised goal of having around 45 satellites in orbit by the end of 2026. Previously, the company aimed for a range of 45-60 satellites by that time. AST SpaceMobile plans to launch multiple satellites in future missions, with BlueBird 8 to 10 expected to be ready for shipment in about 30 days. The company aims to conduct launches every one to two months, but BofA estimates a potential shortfall of about seven satellites based on their launch cadence.

Deutsche Bank has lowered its price target on AST SpaceMobile in light of Amazon's acquisition of Globalstar, which could heighten competition in the direct-to-device sector.
