Introduction#
Bank of America Corp. has recently established a new team within its investment banking division aimed at helping private equity firms exit their investments. This move comes as buyout firms are holding onto their portfolio companies for longer periods and are seeking alternative ways to monetize these assets.
New Team Announcement#
The Private Capital M&A Group was introduced in an internal memo on Wednesday. This team is designed to streamline the bank’s resources across various sectors, including global capital solutions and financial sponsors, to assist buyout firms in selling their portfolio companies effectively.
Leadership Structure#
Richard Peacock and Amanda Dupuy Ugarte will co-lead the new group. Peacock is also responsible for consumer and retail mergers and acquisitions (M&A), while Dupuy Ugarte heads the global secondary advisory investment banking division. They will continue to fulfill these roles alongside their new responsibilities.
Market Context#
Currently, private equity firms are managing a significant number of unsold companies. These firms are holding onto their assets longer than before and are exploring innovative exit strategies as the traditional buyout model evolves. The new team at Bank of America aims to enhance the bank’s presence in the competitive private equity exit market by providing flexible solutions tailored to the needs of these firms.
