Market Overview#
Australia's stock market closed lower on Friday, with the S&P/ASX 200 index decreasing by 0.14%. The decline was primarily influenced by losses in the Gold, Metals & Mining, and Materials sectors.
Top Performers#
Despite the overall market downturn, some stocks managed to gain. Dalrymple Bay Infrastructure Ltd (ASX:DBI) saw the largest increase, rising by 6.88%, or 0.32 points, to close at 4.97. NIB Holdings (ASX:NHF) followed closely, up 5.85% or 0.34 points to finish at 6.15. DroneShield Ltd (ASX:DRO) also performed well, gaining 5.36% or 0.21 points to close at 4.13.
Notable Declines#
On the other hand, several stocks faced significant losses. Northern Star Resources Ltd (ASX:NST) experienced the steepest drop, falling 18.57% or 4.97 points to trade at 21.80. IperionX Limited (ASX:IPX) declined by 12.75% or 0.78 points to end at 5.34, while Contact Energy Ltd (ASX:CEN) shed 6.33% or 0.50 points, closing at 7.32.

Crude oil prices also fell, with April delivery down 0.67% to $95.09 per barrel, and the May Brent oil contract dropping 0.39% to $100.07 per barrel. Currency-wise, the AUD/USD remained stable at 0.71, while AUD/JPY fell by 0.20% to 112.57. The US Dollar Index Futures rose slightly by 0.06% to 99.82.
