New Leadership at Airbnb#

Airbnb Inc. has announced the appointment of Gus Fuldner as its new global head of operations. This decision was communicated by CEO Brian Chesky in an email to employees. Fuldner, who previously worked at Uber Technologies Inc., will officially join Airbnb on March 16.

Transition of Roles#

Fuldner takes over from Tara Bunch, who has decided to retire after six years with the company. Bunch, who also has experience from Apple Inc., will remain with Airbnb until June to assist with the transition as an advisor. This planned handover has been in discussion between Chesky and Bunch for some time, ensuring a smooth change in leadership.

Strategic Expansion Plans#

This appointment is part of a broader strategy by Chesky to strengthen Airbnb's leadership team. Earlier this year, the company also welcomed Ahmad Al-Dahle, a former executive from Meta Platforms Inc., as its new chief technology officer. These moves indicate Airbnb's intention to expand its services beyond just providing accommodations, with a focus on integrating more advanced technology, including artificial intelligence, into its platform.

Fuldner's Background#

Before joining Airbnb, Fuldner served as the senior vice president of core services at Uber, where he managed various teams focused on safety, support, payments, insurance, and identity verification. His extensive experience in operations is expected to contribute significantly to Airbnb's growth and innovation efforts.
