Incident Overview#

A Jazz Aviation Mitsubishi CRJ-900 aircraft, operating as Air Canada Express Flight AC8646, was involved in a tragic accident upon landing at New York's LaGuardia Airport on Sunday night. The flight had originated from Montréal and was carrying around 72 passengers and four crew members.

Casualties and Response#

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey has confirmed that both the pilot and first officer lost their lives in the accident. Air Canada expressed its deep sorrow over the loss of two Jazz employees and extended condolences to their families and the Jazz community. At this time, the airline has not confirmed the total number of injuries or if there are additional fatalities.
