Introduction#

Indian billionaire Gautam Adani is currently in discussions with major American tech companies, including Meta Platforms and Google, regarding potential partnerships in his data center business. This information was reported by Bloomberg on Wednesday.

Partnerships and Collaborations#

In addition to Meta and Google, Walmart Inc.’s Flipkart is also reportedly in talks with Adani. The Adani Group is actively exploring various locations across different Indian states for the establishment of these data centers. However, specific sites have not yet been confirmed, and the discussions are still in the early stages.

Digital Infrastructure Initiative#

These negotiations are part of a larger initiative by Adani, which involves a substantial investment of $100 billion aimed at enhancing digital infrastructure. This initiative is designed to position Adani's diverse business interests, which range from ports to power generation, as a key provider of both land and renewable energy necessary for large-scale data centers, often referred to as hyperscale facilities.

Previous Collaborations#

AdaniConnex Pvt., a joint venture between Adani Enterprises Ltd. and EdgeConneX, previously announced a partnership with Google in October. This collaboration involves Google investing approximately $15 billion to develop India’s largest artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure hub in Visakhapatnam. The current negotiations with Meta and Google represent a new phase of investment beyond these earlier commitments.
